We may have just found the next Tenkara.
It meets the simplicity test. However, for or obvious reasons this is not recommended for catch and release fisheries. Found on Reddit
Well, no one can accuse this man of being without exuberance in catching a fish. Though, I would have been loathed to think if he will have any fish left to eat after he squashed them with those rocks, if I didn't see him holding up a fairly intact one. I'd say he most assuredly had a good meal out of this fishing expedition. This age-old technique of his is something I don't see everyday, here in Charleston, South Carolina. It's a novel sight for me.
