The Salt Lake Tribune's Columnist Brett Prettyman writes a profile of Utah fly angler, Steve Schmidt. Steve is an author and blogger and owns the Western Rivers Flyfisher. Western River will celebrate 20 years in business tomorrow. Mr. Schmidt is a great advocate for the sport and does much work to protect the resources he uses.
While some business owners prefer to stay out of political issues, fearing repercussions from customers who may not agree with their stances, Schmidt sees things differently. "I make money from people who use our resources. It's my duty to be a steward for those resources and to get involved," he said.
