Fly Rod & Reel Magazine has chosen Bruce Richards as its 2006 angler of the year. Bruce works for Scientific Anglers.
"We usually don't name 'industry' people as Angler of the Year," said FR&R editor Paul Guernsey in a news release, "but Bruce is such an obvious choice as much for his character as for his accomplishments."
His work has resulted in fly lines designed for tough species, and work with colleague Del Kauss in developing SA's patented Advanced Shooting Technology, which FR&R writer Greg Thomas calls a "monumental improvement" in fly line coatings.
