Just in case you see a guy on the creekbank who wants to sell you a reel, The Record Searchlight is reporting that thieves recently broke into The Fly Shop located in Redding California and quickly made off with approximately $14,0000 worth of rods, reels, and other fishing equipment.
Owner Mike Michalak thinks the culprits were professional pilferers who cased the place earlier in the month.
After reviewing surveillance footage Friday afternoon, Fly Shop owner Mike Michalak and general manager Terry Jepsen are convinced the two men who made off with the high-end rods and reels are the same ones who visited the store and cased the business on camera Dec. 20. What's more, one of the men appears to be wearing the same shirt in both videos..
It's not unusual for out-of-town customers to take photos inside The Fly Shop, Jepsen said. Its aisles of sophisticated fishing gear, colorful flies and clothes is an eye-opener for any fly fisherman. "It's the Disneyland of fly shops," Jepsen said.
The shop is offering a reward. Read the full story here.
