The Force is Strong: Turneffe Island Edition

While we were out chasing"trash fish" like Permit, Tarpon, and Bones in Belize (more on that later), @FlyfishMagazine's newest correspondent, Kevin Ladd, decided to reel in a Wahoo which fed the entire resort.  When he isn't busy catching bigger fish than us in Belize, Kevin's other hobby is sight fishing for massive Cobia in the Chesapeake Bay.  

Don't worry though, both Kevin and I caught our share of the grey ghosts on the fly as well. Look for more details about fly fishing Belize and our take on Turneffe Island Resort in the near future.   

The Force is Strong: Belizean Permit Edition

Our Facebook pal and fellow Texan, Michael Mendez, recently got things done in Belize.  He landed this magnificent Permit while fishing the waters of Ambergris Caye at the El Pescador resort.  He gave a lot of credit to his guide, Micheal for putting him on this beast.  

This photo got me excited about my own trip to Belize coming up  later this year.  However, the fact that it took Michael three years to finally land one of these fish is not lost on me. Permit are by no means an easy catch. Nicely done Michael!  In the mean time, i'll just keep reminding myself not to trout set.
