Fly Fishing on the small screen; Outlander Edition

An interesting exchange between young William and Jamie during a recent episode of Outlander.  One of the writers must be afflicted with our disease. 

Short Film - Tippet

Via Gofundme.  This doesn't sound like your typical fly fishing film.

"Tippet" is a dark comedy/thriller about a young couple's fishing trip that turns into a fight for survival. John, an avid fly fisherman, and his girlfriend, Sarah, are intercepted by two bumbling bank robbers ,who had just escaped a failed heist. An otherwise relaxing vacation turns into a nightmare when the bank robbers aren't in the mood for witnesses. 

They are only looking for $700 and if you donate $250 you get a guided fly fishing lesson.  Let's hope it  doesn't turn into research for the film. 

Nautilus Reels Micro-Film Contest

Calling the Cecil B. DeMilles'  among us..

Bonefish and Tarpon Trust and Nautilus Reels are getting together to host a contest open to both amateur and professional film makers.   From their press release:

"We encourage anglers of all ages and experience levels to submit their best micro-films telling stories from the world of fishing and conservation. The top videos, selected by BTT and Nautilus staff, will be played and voted on during the Nautilus Reels Art + Micro-Film Festival on Friday, November 10th at Bonefish & Tarpon Trust’s 6th International Science Symposium in Weston, Florida. Each winner will receive a *Nautilus reel* along with other prizes."

I've been a fan of the Fly Fishing Film Tour since attending the very first one with my then new pal, Tom Chandler, and long time fishing buddy Zugbug.   Let's just say the films have come a long way since those days.   Here's a link to this year's schedule.    Check it out.  You won't be disappointed.

Confluence Films: Providence Trailer
