Things we didn't buy...

Abercrombie & Fitch once sold bamboo travel rods that fit in a passport sized box. Now they hawk clothes to cool kids who probably haven't ever seen a fly rod. Can you imagine the ads they would have for fly rods if they sold them today? At $450 I seriously considered whipping out the plastic...

Much to the Editorial Trophy Wife's relief, I did not consider purchasing this copy of Izaac Walton's famous book. Note the price in the lower right...

Cool stuff. The adds for today would probably be half pornographic with the flyrod a prop.

I have "The Compleat Angler" book by Izaak Walton, the 1976 edition, in a binder. It's smelly, old, in great shape, and has a nice slip cover over it. Kinda like me. :)

I have a yellow version of the A&F passport rod. It is much more attractive looking with no metal ferrules, just reinforced open ends and hand written text, not the sticker or transfer this one has. It is mint in the box. I got it at a garage sale with a hand full of other fishing stuff for $8.00. Cant say that i would sell it, Looks good on the wall, but $450 would be a good return.
