Seminole Fans Cheer - Gator Caught In Carolina Mts.
The next time you are fishing one of North Carolina's mountain rivers you might take a closer look at that log as it floats by. It just might have teeth. Boaters recently captured a three foot long juvenile American alligator in the French Broad River near Brevard, North Carolina. Since gators are not native to our mountains, the reptile was most likely abandoned by an irresponsible owner once it had grown too large for their liking.
"The U.S. Fish and Wildlife Service says because the alligator was probably in contact with humans before its release into the river, it likely won't be re-introduced into the wild."
Just in case this is not an isolated incident, I plan on tying up some chihuahua flies. I bet that would be a heck of a fight on my 4 weight. (Link to the Charlotte Observer article)
